April 17
This past weekend my group made bracelets and we also contacted the University of Iowa Hospital to see if we could bring bracelets with messages to the cancer patients. They haven't gotten back to us yet and I am hoping they let us give the bracelets and inspirational messages directly to the patients. If not, we will still continue the project but will just drop off all the bracelets with the front desk? That is my biggest question, what will we do if they say we can't give the patients the bracelets because we really wanted to see if by giving them those it would make them smile or if they would appreciate it at all. What surprised me is how long it takes to make a good bracelet! It takes me between 20-30 minutes to complete a whole one so it is a good thing we have three group members and the student government helping us.
The next task for our project is the bake sale. We need to start baking goods and selling them to raise money because that has been the hardest part of our project. I think that the bake sale will really help us in that area because I think like us, other students want to help cancer patients and will want something small to eat after school.
